Trauma In formed Care (SOLD OUT)
About
Over half the population will experience at least one significant traumatic event in their lifetime, and around 1 in 10 will develop post-traumatic stress at some point. Whether trauma stems from a single incident—such as a natural disaster—or from ongoing, repeated abuse, it shapes how a person thinks, feels, and behaves.By increasing your understanding of what a person has experienced and how trauma affects them, you will feel better prepared to respond if the person becomes distressed, anxious, or disruptive.
When a person who shows challenging behaviour trusts you, you have a clearer sense of how to reach them and communicate in ways that feel safe, and what helps a person regain a sense of calm and control.
This training will help you:
• Build awareness of core trauma-related concepts
• Understand the science behind trauma and how trauma influences behaviour
• Apply 6 Guiding Principles of a Trauma-Informed Approach
• Use 7 practical tips to reduce the risk of re-traumatisation
• Access additional resources to continue learning with your staff
