IWD: Greek Women, Migration and Leadership from 1835 to 2026
About
Balance the Scales: Women, Migration and Leadership from 1835 to 2026This International Women’s Day event connects historical insight with contemporary leadership to address persistent gender inequality. Through The First Settler, Fotini Papadimitriou brings to life the experience of Ekaterini Plessou Crummer, a woman migrant who arrived in Australia in 1835, offering a powerful lens on resilience, agency and values in the face of structural disadvantage.
A cross-sector/border panel examines how these foundational values translate to women’s leadership today. The conversation focuses on rebalancing opportunity, representation and influence for women navigating multiple challenges at work and civic life during the different stages in 2026.
