IAF Private Preview: Aldo Iacobelli Exhibition_Ghostly Pages
IAF Members and friends are invited by The Little Machine to a private preview of Aldo Iacobelli's Exhibition, Ghostly Pages curated by
Eleen Deprez and Michael Newall, winners of the 2025 IAF sponsored Critics' Circle Award for Innovation.
Ghostly Pages presents a new body of work by acclaimed South Australian artist Aldo Iacobelli. Moving between memory and erasure, presence and disappearance, Iacobelli’s work hovers in the space between remembering and forgetting. His practice, spanning several decades, continues a philosophical enquiry into the human condition, cruelty, love, and existential mystery. Ghostly Pages, showcases a collection of paintings and drawings that quietly ruminate on memory and stories lingering in the artist’s mind. Each work is simply titled with a page number, as though it was torn from a book whose cover we have lost. "p3" builds on a story Aldo's mother told him. As a child in Italy she laboured for another family, often drifting to sleep in the stables with the horses. This memory emerges in the work as a dreamlike image. The other works likewise seem to grasp at fleeting moments that linger in the mind of the artist or haunt his dreams. The exhibition will be accompanied by a series of events, including a conversation with writer Linda Marie Walker whose book “Looking for painting … amidst a thousand other things” we are publishing later this year.
Whilst this is a free ticketed event you must book a ticket to be able to come along. Places are limited!
The Little Machine will provide tea, coffee and biscuits. Cash bar with wine also available.
All funds raised go to supporting emerging artists in South Australia.
