Annual Mizuhiki Workshop Day --- Perth (15th March)
Annual Mizuhiki Workshop Day – Perth
We’re excited to return to Perth for our annual Mizuhiki workshop day following the Japan Festival.
Each year, we gather to share our passion for this traditional Japanese craft and enjoy meaningful creative time together.
You can choose from two different sessions:
Morning Session – 11:00 AM
Create delicate six-petaled flowers using a single strand of Mizuhiki cord. By layering these flowers, you’ll craft both a pendant and a brooch.
What you will learn
How to shape Mizuhiki into structured flower petals
Techniques for layering cords to create dimensional designs
Tips for neat finishing and balance
What you will make
One finished piece (pendant or brooch) during the session
Materials to complete the second piece at home
Afternoon Session – 2:00 PM
Learn the traditional art of Mizuhiki knotting while creating a necklace and a pair of earrings. You’ll be guided step-by-step and discover the meanings behind each knot.
What you will learn
How to make the Awaji knot
How to make the Plum knot
Traditional symbolism behind Mizuhiki designs
What you will make & receive
