Josh Hooke - Mozart, Chopin, Mussorgsky
Originally from country Victoria, Josh completed a PhD in Music Performance in 2023 at the University of Melbourne under Professors Ian Holtham and Paul Kildea, and is currently the Kenneth Moore Memorial Music Scholar at Janet Clarke Hall.
He has been a finalist and prizewinner in a number of competitions. Previously, Josh was invited to undertake periods of intensive private study in Vienna with Paul Badura-Skoda, and was among his last students. He has also studied in London with Imogen Cooper.
Josh plays beloved staples of the piano repertoire, significant for their introspective qualities, and simultaneous embodiment of complexity, pianism and innovativeness.
