About

Tyrone Noonan is a dynamic singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, best known as the former frontman of ARIA award-winning Australian band George. Following the band’s hiatus, he returned to his jazz roots with the creation of Palimpsest, a project that has become a defining outlet for his love of groove, improvisation and timeless songcraft.

Blending swing, Latin, soul, folk and contemporary influences, Palimpsest creates a sound that feels both classic and current. The group’s self-titled debut album (2004) featured the track “I’ll Bet You Thought I’d Never Find You,” which attracted international attention through UK Nu Jazz compilations and remixes, introducing Tyrone’s songwriting and distinctive voice to audiences beyond Australia. His rich, expressive vocals sit at the heart of the quartet’s sound, balancing jazz sophistication with pop sensibility and global influences.

Palimpsest has appeared at major festivals including Woodford Folk Festival and St Kilda Festival, along with high-profile events such as the Federal Budget Dinner at Parliament House. Tyrone has also developed his craft internationally, performing and collaborating with leading musicians in London, New York and across Australia, continually expanding the project’s musical palette.

Beyond Palimpsest, he has explored projects such as his Sinatra-inspired stage show Vegas and collaborations with Dave Goode of The Potbelleez.

For this performance, Tyrone will delight audiences with a vibrant mix of jazz standards alongside his own original compositions—showcasing the depth, versatility and enduring passion that define his jazz journey.
