Join us in welcoming Portland, Oregon songwriter Jeffrey Martin for his first-ever Australian tour this March, bringing his quietly powerful songs and humble storytelling to intimate stages and festivals across the country.

From a small backyard shack in southeast Portland, Martin recorded his new album Thank God We Left The Garden through two cheap microphones, often holding his breath to wait for the sound of a passing truck. What began as simple demos became something else entirely: a record alive with stillness, honesty, and the magic that only arrives when a songwriter lets the world fall away.

Released on Portland’s beloved Fluff and Gravy Records, Thank God We Left The Garden is Martin’s fourth full-length album, following the success of 2017’s One Go Around, which No Depression hailed as “the poetry of America.” Recorded live and alone, the new album is an ode to imperfection — to what happens when you stop chasing perfection and start paying attention.

Across the US and Europe, Jeffrey Martin has quietly earned a reputation as one of the most affecting voices in modern folk — his songs carried by lyrical depth, a storyteller’s patience, and the kind of intimacy that turns a crowded room into a whisper.

Now, for the first time, Australian audiences will have the chance to experience Jeffrey Martin live — up close and unadorned. Jeffrey Martin plays intimate stages in Melbourne and Sydney as well as performing at Port Fairy Folk Festival and Blue Mountains Music Festival.

Jeffrey is joined on this tour by his dear old friend Matthew Colin, who brings with him the philosophy of history’s great songwriters “a song and a friend for every mile behind”. It’ll only take listening to one or two lines to find a writer of considered craft, values nested in a time of country folk music when all that mattered was the song itself.
