National Sorry Day Commemoration Event
About
Join us as we acknowledge National Sorry Day and honour the strength and resilience of the Stolen Generations. This event is an important step in our reconciliation journey, aiming to deepen understanding, foster empathy, and inspire meaningful dialogue about healing and equality.
This commemorative event will include a keynote address by Aunty Eva Jo Edwards - a Stolen Generation survivor - generously telling her story and a reading of poems by Aunty Jacqueline Watkins, sharing her mother’s words and legacy in a powerful and personal way.
Light refreshments and the opportunity of a yarn with First Nations Community members will be provided from 12pm.
***This event will include personal stories from members of the Stolen Generations. These lived experiences may include accounts of trauma, forced removal, and distressing events. We encourage attendees to consider their personal wellbeing and access support if needed.***
All community members are warmly welcome to attend.
