Welcome to City Kids Theatre – Sydney’s leading youth musical theatre company.
Under the direction of Davin Griffiths-Jones, we have proudly staged many successful productions and continue to give young performers the chance to shine in a supportive and professional environment.
At City Kids Theatre, young performers develop their skills in singing, acting and dancing, while working together towards exciting live performances on stage.
Our goal is to create a positive and inspiring theatre experience where young performers can build confidence, develop their talents and form lasting friendships.
ABOUT THE SHOW
Sister Act Jr. brings the joyful story of Deloris Van Cartier to the stage in this high-energy musical comedy.
When disco diva Deloris witnesses a crime, she is placed in protective custody in a convent. While hiding among the nuns, she unexpectedly transforms the convent choir into a vibrant musical sensation.
With songs inspired by Motown, soul and disco, Sister Act Jr. is filled with uplifting music, humour and heart.
It promises to be a fantastic theatrical experience for performers and audiences alike.
CHARACTERS
Sister Act Jr. offers a wide range of exciting roles for performers of different ages and abilities.
Leading Roles
Deloris Van Cartier – A confident disco diva with a big personality and powerful voice.
Mother Superior – The strict but caring leader of the convent.
Sister Mary Robert – A shy young nun who discovers her confidence.
Sister Mary Patrick – Energetic, joyful and enthusiastic.
Sister Mary Lazarus – A witty nun with plenty of attitude.
Eddie Souther – A police officer who has known Deloris since high school.
Curtis – The villain of the story.
TJ, Joey & Pablo – Curtis’ comedic sidekicks.
Ensemble
AUDITION INFORMATION
Ensemble Dance Auditions
Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement.
A short dance combination from the show will be taught.
Juniors 7-11yrs – Sunday 29 March 9:30am – 10:00am
Seniors – 12-18yrs Sunday 29 March 10:00am – 10:30am
Lead Role (Singing / Acting) Auditions
Please prepare:
• A short musical theatre song or pop ballad song
• Bring backing music on your iPhone
Please prepare a 30sec-1min monologue or poem
Lead auditions will take place:
Saturday 28 March – from 5:00pm & Sunday 29 March – from 10:30am
Final Audition Opportunity
Saturday 26 April – 10:00am
This session is available for performers who were unable to attend the earlier auditions.
Callbacks (Lead Roles)
Callbacks will be by invitation only.
Tuesday 21 April – from 4:00pm & Wednesday 22 April – from 4:00pm
LOCATION
All auditions and rehearsals will take place at:📍 7 Rebecca Parade Winston Hills NSW 2153
REHEARSALS
Rehearsals are held on Fridays 5:30pm -7pm for ages 11yrs and under & Saturdays for Lead roles and 12 years and over (There is an option to come on Saturdays for all ages if you can not attend Fridays)
Rehearsals will begin: Friday 1 May – 5:30pm – 7:00pm & Saturday 2 May – 3:00pm – 5:00pm
Further rehearsal schedules will be provided at the first rehearsal
PERFORMANCES
Performance dates 30th Sep - 1st Oct 2026 at the Bryan Brown Theatre.
City Kids Theatre productions are staged in a professional theatre environment, giving performers the opportunity to perform for live audiences on stage.
