CWA Phillip Group Excursion to Taronga Zoo on 17 April 2026

The main purpose of this excursion is to study the Glossy Black Cockatoo, the CWA’s Fauna of Study for 2026.PROPOSED ITINERARY
10AM Start arriving at the Top Entrance near the carpark. Parking for the whole day costs $24. If arriving by ferry from Circular Quay (Wharf 4, Side B), catch the 238 Bus from the Zoo Wharf to the Top Entrance using your Opal card.
10:30AM We will enter the zoo as a group. It’s a CWA requirement that all participants are checked in and sign in.
11:15AM A Bird Keeper will give a special talk just for us about the vulnerable Glossy Black Cockatoo outside their exhibit, the Blue Mountains Avery (Map Ref 6H), near the floral clock.
12 NOON We’ll have reserved seating at the Free Flight Bird Show at the Bird Show Amphitheatre, located on the western side of the zoo (Map Ref 15G).
12:45PM Lunch at Saltwater Bistro (Map Ref 5E) or take your own lunch to have as a picnic outdoors.
2PM The Seal Show (Seals for the Wild presentation) at the Seal Theatre in the Great Southern Oceans precinct. This is located in the lower section of the zoo (Map Ref F9).
2:30PM Gorilla Keeper Talk if the gorillas are feeling sociable (Map Ref 10G).
3PM Meet new zoo resident Hari the Greater One-horned Rhino at the Rhino Reserve (Map Ref 12F).
UNTIL ZOO CLOSES AT 5PM Enjoy other zoo exhibits at your leisure.
COST
Entry fee for the whole day is at the group discount rate of $36.50 for adults and concessions, which includes all zoo shows.
LUNCH
Lunch at the Saltwater Bistro will be at your own expense (or take your own picnic lunch).
