Exhibition Opening 'Nature + Art' & 'Splash of Colour'
About
John Mullins Memorial Art GalleryNature + Art
By Michelle Black, Kate Lacy, Peta Lloyd, Sharon Kirk & Sally North
Nature + Art is a celebration of the natural world – its fragments, elements and living beings, the delicate details and quiet beauty that often goes unnoticed.
Featuring works by Central Queensland artists Peta Lloyd, Sally North, Sharon Kirk, and Kate Lacy, alongside Dalby artist Michelle Black, the exhibition brings together diverse contemporary practices grounded in intimate encounters with the natural environment. Each artist responds to nature in unique ways, allowing its rhythms, textures, and presence to guide creative outcomes.
The exhibition is a quiet exploration of intimacy within nature expressed through printmaking, digital and historical photography techniques, textiles, painting, eco printing and natural dyes, small-scale sculptural pieces and artist books. Through engagement with the natural world in silent collaboration, nature is not simply observed but engaged with. Together, the works form a contemplative exhibition where nature and art merge.

Splash of Colour
by Lyn Wunsch
Splash of Colour is a vibrant collection of eclectic pieces presented by artist, Lyn Wunsch. Wunsch catapults you into the subject’s world, revealing either a factual or fanciful story for each piece. Bold brushstrokes and intricate detail bring each subject to life. They all have a story to tell - from fantastic florals, languid landscapes, to amusing animals. Wunsch has a wonderous connection with colour! She splashes it everywhere in her oil and watercolour creations. Using brushes and palette knives to push oil paint around the canvas like butter, allows Wunsch time to evolve and alter each scene as she goes, in this slow drying process. Watercolour, on the other hand, has a mind of its own, and trying to control the disbursement of pigment is the challenge faced by Wunsch when creating these master pieces. Welcome to a display, where emotion and colour take centre stage, and be prepared to transcend into the world, that is - Splash of Colour.
