With an extraordinary 38-year career with Victoria Police, Charlie spent 17 years in the Homicide Squad investigating some of Australia’s most notorious crimes. During this fascinating and candid presentation, he will share stories from the front line of policing, insights into major investigations, and the realities of life working in elite crime squads.
Charlie has worked across numerous specialist units including the Drug Squad, Bureau of Internal Investigations, Westgate Drug Task Force, and Westgate Armed Robbery Task Force, earning multiple commendations for leadership, professionalism and dedication to duty.
He has been involved in investigations into some of Australia’s most high-profile cases including the murder of Victor Chang, the underworld killing of Alphonse Gangitano, the manslaughter of David Hookes, and the crimes of serial killer Paul Charles Denyer.
Since retiring in 2009, Charlie has become a respected media commentator, corporate speaker, security and risk consultant, and the author of the bestselling book The Job: Policing from the Front Line.
