• From the 1950s to the Present: The diverse and changing sources of antisemitism in Australia (Speaker: Professor Philip Mendes)

Dr Hilary Rubinstein OAM PhD, FRHistS (Fellow of the Royal Historical Society) authored three books on Australian Jewish history, including the first full-length study of the subject. A former Research Fellow in History at the University of Melbourne and honorary Research Fellow at Monash University, she has contributed chapters and articles on aspects of modern Jewish history to peer-reviewed academic books and periodicals, here and overseas, and edits the November issues of the twice-yearly Australian Jewish Historical Society Journal. Hilary is also the co-author of a history of modern Jewry since 1750 and of another on philosemitism in the English-speaking world from 1840 to 1939.

Professor Emeritus Paul Bartrop PhD, FRHistS is a multi-award-winning scholar of the Holocaust and genocide. Until December 2020, when he returned permanently to Australia, he was Professor of History and Director of the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Research at Florida Gulf Coast University, Fort Myers, Florida, where he is now Professor Emeritus of History. He is also a Principal Fellow in History at the University of Melbourne. He is the author, co-author, and editor of 36 books, mostly relating to the Holocaust and genocide. He is a former Vice-President of the Midwest Jewish Studies Association in the United States and is a Past President of the Australian Association of Jewish Studies.

Professor Philip Mendes PhD, FASSA is Professor of Social Work at Monash University. With a prodigious output of legendary proportions, Philip has authored fourteen books and numerous articles in a wide variety of publications. Much published in his professional field, he is also the prolific and prominent author of numerous works on antisemitism and on Jewish political themes. is particularly known as a specialist in the history and politics of the Jewish Left, especially regarding Australia. He blogs at The Times of Israel, and is on the editorial committee of the Australian Jewish Historical Society’s November-published Journal.
