HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid (Includes CPR)
Delivered by CLV in partnership with CPR First Aid, a nationally recognised training provider, this course is designed for community language teachers and staff who require First Aid certification for workplace or compliance purposes.

This course develops the skills and knowledge required to provide a First Aid response to a casualty. It applies to all workers who may be required to provide a First Aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings. The course will provide you with an understanding of how to apply immediate or emergency care of an injured or sick casualty, basic life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders or bystanders until more advanced medical help arrives. It includes HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and HLTAID0010 Provide basic emergency life support.
TOPICS COVERED
- Learn to perform CPR on an adult, child and infant manikins
- Learn to place a casualty in the recovery position, manage an unconscious breathing casualty, manual handling techniques
- Learn to respond to regurgitation and vomiting, choking
- Learn to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Provide an accurate written or verbal incident report; learn first aid codes of practice and workplace procedures; learn legal, workplace and community considerations
- Learn to respond to simulated first aid scenarios contextualized to a workplace/community setting
- Learn to apply first aid procedures; allergic reaction, anaphylaxis, bleeding control, choking and airway obstruction, envenomation (pressure immobilization), fractures/sprains/strains (slings, roller bandages, immobilization techniques), respiratory distress including asthma, shock
- Covered in theory component; abdominal injuries, basic care of a wound, burns, crush injuries, diabetes, dislocations, drowning, environmental impacts (hypothermia, hyperthermia, dehydration & heat stroke), eye and ear injuries, febrile convulsions, head neck & spinal injuries, minor skin injuries, poisoning, epilepsy, stroke, basic anatomy, physiology and more
DELIVERY MODE
3 hours face-to-face course with online theory that must be completed BEFORE the face-to-face component.
ADDITIONAL SUPPORT
During registration, you will be asked whether participants require any language, literacy, numeracy or digital support. This allows us to ensure appropriate support is available during training.
⚠️ Important Requirements (Read Before Booking)
- A valid USI (Unique Student Identifier) is required to receive certification.
- Online theory must be completed before attending.
- Participants must be able to attend their selected session.
To confirm participant numbers with the training provider, bookings are final once confirmed.
If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your place to another participant with notice.
