About
Lecture Series - Little Lungs, Big Decisions: Navigating Acute Paediatric Respiratory CareThis lecture series will focus on physiotherapy assessment and treatment of acute respiratory presentations commonly and not so commonly seen in the paediatric setting.
Attendees will build their knowledge to support management of respiratory physiotherapy referrals in hospitals; including key considerations for escalation and early supportive strategies for this patient population.
This is Part 1, of 2, of the Lecture Series.
Lecture 1 will introduce the fundamentals of respiratory assessment and management in the paediatric population, including age-specific considerations and key clinical red flags. This lecture will focus on developing problem-solving skills for typically developing children, with brief discussion of the variations seen in common conditions such as inflammatory respiratory illnesses and chronic airway disease.
Intended audience:
- Physiotherapists that work in an acute paediatric environment
- Experienced clinicians working in an acute environment with limited paediatric exposure
- Clinicians working with children with neuro-disability and complex care needs in the community, who may be supporting these children and families in managing a subacute respiratory illness
