Auditions: Sun 31st May 2026 (from 1.30pm ) and Tues 2nd June (from 7.00 pm)
Audition venue: Fleigner Hall
Performance Dates: 9th to 18th Oct
Rehearsals from Sunday 19th July 2026: Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Sunday Afternoons (ideally)
Characters – all Female – (ages are indicative of characters only)
PLEASE NOTE: the role of Ouiser has been pre-cast
M’Lynn 50s- Mother of Shelby, smart, socially prominent
Truvy 40s- Salon Owner
Shelby mid 20s-30- Pretty, smart and about to get married
Annelle20s- Beauty shop assistant, starts shy, but gains confidence
Clairee60s+- Widow former Mayor
Ouiser - pre-cast - pronounced (Weezer) Wealthy, acerbic but lovable.
Author’s Note: The women in this play are witty, intelligent and above all, real characters. They are in no way, shape or form are meant to be portrayed as cartoons or caricatures.
Accent: A strong, but not over-exaggerated, Southern American accent is essential for all roles.
