Exploring strategies to support regulation and wellbeing

Join Kiind for a free online workshop for parents and carers of neurodivergent children and young people, focusing on low demand parenting.

What is low demand parenting?

Low demand parenting is an approach designed to reduce pressure, increase connection, and support wellbeing for both children and carers. It's about intentionally reducing unnecessary pressures so your child and you can feel safe, connected and regulated.

It isn’t about letting children do whatever they like. Instead, it’s about being thoughtful with the expectations you set, focusing on what truly matters, and meeting your child where they are at.

This workshop is a safe, supportive space for parents and carers to explore strategies that work with rather than against their child.

We’re excited to welcome Natalee Blakemore, Director of Diversum Health Group. Natalee is neurodivergent herself and brings both lived experience and professional expertise. Natalee is an endorsed mental health occupational therapist who works with neurodivergent people across the lifespan, from aged 13-80+ years, supporting mental health and wellbeing.

In this workshop, attendees will explore:

  • Traditional and societal expectations around being a carer, and what we now know about some of those approaches
  • What low demand caregiving looks like for families with diverse needs
  • Practical strategies to support young people with growth and development
  • Ways for parents and carers to protect their own wellbeing when living in survival mode
  • A resource list that can support further learning in low demand parenting
Date: Friday, 22 May 2026
Time: 10am - 11:30am AWST
Location: Online
Cost: Free
