About

Soprano Lily Flynn and pianist Charlotte Roberts present a richly varied program spanning introspection, wit, and virtuosity, centred around Socrate by Erik Satie, a serene and philosophical meditation on the life of Socrates. The program weaves through the playful charm and subtle satire of songs by Germaine Tailleferre and Francis Poulenc, the wordless lyricism of vocalises by Tailleferre and Sergei Rachmaninov, and the dramatic intensity of Rachmaninov’s C-sharp minor Prelude, before culminating in the vibrant, folk-inspired energy of Romanian Folk Dances by Béla Bartók.
