Investigating the History of Old Objects
About
This month for Wednesdays @ 1, Alison Hicks will take you through her strategies for discovering the history, and thus the provenance, of a range of old objects: jewellery, ornaments, furniture, tools and more.
Have you inherited some mysterious family heirlooms, or found some fascinating treasures in a op shop? Old objects, from the spectacular to the ordinary, can be a great avenue of research for the family historian. If you dig into the past of these objects, it can lead to discoveries that add richness and texture to your family history.
In this presentation, Alison will share useful resources and references that can be used to discover the origins of various objects. There will also be examples from her own research that have led her to some interesting stories!
