Old Courthouse & Police Complex – History (ready to use)The Old Fremantle Police Station & Court House Complex dates back to the late 1800s, with the current buildings constructed between 1896 and 1903.
Built on land originally tied to the convict establishment of the 1850s, the site has deep connections to Fremantle’s early justice system and colonial history.
This complex wasn’t just a courthouse—it included:
Police barracks
Lock-ups (holding cells)
Courtrooms where judgment was delivered and sentences were handed down
For over a century, it served as a centre of law and order, where prisoners were processed, questioned, and held before facing their fate.
Many believe the intensity of those experiences—fear, punishment, and confinement—has left a lasting imprint on the site.
As the night unfolds, you’ll be guided through multiple areas of the Courthouse, uncovering its history and taking part in an interactive paranormal investigation.
And then… the lights go out.
