The Office of Medical Research and Innovation (OMRI) will host the upcoming 2026 Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund Open Day - RHD Spotlight Awarded, bringing together the Western Australian medical research and innovation community.
The Open Day will feature an address from Minister for Medical Research the Hon Stephen Dawson MLC, outlining the government’s priorities for medical research and innovation in Western Australia.
The event will include an update on FHRI Fund programs and initiatives opening for applications, providing the sector with visibility of upcoming opportunities aligned to the FHRI Fund’s strategic priorities.
Importantly, the Open Day will include the announcement of the recipient of the FHRI Fund’s inaugural Spotlight Program, launched at the November 2025 Open Day. The successful recipient will lead a major research initiative focusing on Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) in Western Australia.
By placing RHD in the spotlight, the FHRI Fund aims to strengthen collaboration, partnerships, research and innovation to reduce the significant and ongoing impact of serious but preventable condition.
Participation is encouraged either in-person or online, with the event delivered as a hybrid session.
In-person attendees are invited to a light breakfast and networking session from 8.30am, with official proceedings beginning at 9.30am.
Online attendees can tune in from 9.30am to participate in the livestream.

Street parking is available around the CBD, but availability may vary depending on time and day. Nearby car parks include those on Murray Street, Hay Street, and surrounding lanes. Parking in the area can be limited, so attendees are encouraged to arrive early.

The City of Perth operates several car parks in the CBD, many within walking distance of Perth Town Hall.
