This program moves between the minimalist melodies Melbourne Sonata by Barry Cockcroft, composed in 2012, and the tango, which draws on elements of Spanish music. On one side, Piazzolla sets to music a series of movements related to tango, while on the other, de Falla highlights the Spanish roots of his music. All of these pieces were composed in the 20th and 21st centuries.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Spanish saxophone player, teacher and researcher Antoine Flores Gracia was born in Tenerife (Canary Islands) and grew up in a small musical town, always surrounded by nature, musical activities and calmness. From an early age he became interested in learning foreign languages and, at the same time, to develop as a saxophonist. This led him to study and live abroad and study with some of the best saxophone players and international teachers in different universities.
Yiyun Gu is a Melbourne-based pianist known for her versatility as a soloist, chamber musician, and dedicated music educator. She holds a Master of Music (Performance) from the University of Melbourne, where she studied with Stephen McIntyre AM. With a deep passion for sharing music, she has built a vibrant career performing across Australia and supporting students and fellow musicians in both artistic and educational settings.
Mattutino is our monthly Sunday morning concert series.
One hour of music at 11am.
