Genetic Genealogy: Beyond the Basics
Are you ready to take the next step in your DNA analysis journey? Want to prove hypotheses and solve mysteries, confirm ancestry or identify non-paternal events? Learn how to take your genetic genealogy skills to the next level with this workshop!
Join us for this intermediate course and develop your DNA analysis and research abilities! This course will teach you how to use consumer DNA results on Ancestry, MyHeritage, 23&Me, or FTDNA to further your genealogical research, confirm or disprove traditional genealogical conclusions, and solve non-paternity events or adoptions. Come develop the skills needed to start solving your own DNA mysteries!
You will learn about using shared matches to your advantage, when and why to use specific tools for analysis such as the Leeds method, chormosome painting, and WATO, and how to accurately cite DNA results to ensure professional genealogy standards are met.
It is strongly recommended for registrants to have attended our beginner's course Using DNA for Family History before attending Genetic Genealogy: Beyond the Basics. However, if you are already at an intermediate or advanced beginner level of DNA analysis, you are welcome to attend.
