Twilight: About Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
About
The School of Education is delighted to invite you to this Twilight Seminar - About Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Join the School of Education and visiting scholar Mr Bill Wilmot for an engaging seminar focused on creating more inclusive, accessible, and effective learning environments. Bill brings his experience as a school leader and a math, science, and music teacher.
As a Senior UDL Implementation Specialist at CAST (Center for Applied Special Technology), Bill works with school teams to rethink curriculum, instruction, learning environments, and institutional structures to provide access to all, using the UDL framework as a tool for redesign. In addition, he works with districts to understand the root causes of disproportionate disabling and disciplining of students by race, ethnicity, language, and disability status. He also brings a special interest in the role of social emotional learning in achieving academic and personal goals.
Leave this seminar with practical, classroom-ready strategies you can apply immediately:
- Remove barriers without lowering expectations
Design learning experiences that support all students to succeed at high levels. - Move from intervention to intentional design
Create lessons accessible through multiple modalities to benefit every learner. - Boost engagement through choice and agency
Support self-regulation and motivation by allowing students different pathways to the same goal.
Cost: $10 includes light refreshments
Registration and light refreshments will be available from 4:00pm; the seminar will start at 4:30pm.
