About
Join the Sydney University Symphony Orchestra for A Thousand and One Nights, conducted by Luke Spicer.
Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade unfolds in vivid musical colours, using shifting textures and instrumental interplay to create a sense of drama and movement. The recurring solo violin acts as a lyrical narrator, guiding the listener through each scene with expressive nuance and emotional clarity.
Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 1 pairs storm-filled orchestral writing with a deeply introspective piano part, creating a work that feels both symphonic and intensely personal. Its sweeping first movement, lyrical slow movement, and fiery finale trace an emotional arc that revels Brahms's early ambition and unmistakable musical voice.
