This practical session introduces occupational therapy students to the key concepts of commode prescription. Using a person-centred approached, students will consider how environmental and personal factors influence participation in personal care and how to effectively match commode features to support comfort, safety and independence in personal care. The transition from university to clinical practice can make equipment prescription feel overwhelming, especially when balancing pressure care, comfort, positioning, and functional needs. This practical student-focused session is designed to help final-year Occupational Therapy students build confidence in prescribing electric profiling beds and applying clinical reasoning in real-world scenarios. You’ll explore the features and functions of electric profiling beds, key prescription considerations, and emerging technologies that support client comfort, safety, sleep quality, and independence. The session aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice, giving practical insights to carry into placement and early career practice. Learning Objectives:
