Kings and Associates
About
Adelaide based neo-soul and blues outfit Kings & Associates have attracted strong international attention since emerging on the Australian music scene. They burst out with their 2018 album Tales of a Rich Girl, recorded in Los Angeles with six-time Grammy winner Jim Scott at Plyrz Studio (North Hollywood) and mixed by five-time Grammy winner Vance Powell in Nashville. The album earned them three 2018 Australian BMAs.
For this Trinity Sessions performance, the band will present a two-set showcase: a selection from their acclaimed Fringe Festival Blues Gospel Showcase, followed by a set of original material including unreleased songs. The 7-piece lineup—Angie (vocals), Greg Jones (vocals, sax, keys), Benny Cunningham (vocals, guitar), Paul White (Hammond, keys), Matt Williams (guitar), Kelv Sugars (drums), and Steve Porto (bass)—will be expanded with a brass section for the first time, adding a new dimension to their already dynamic sound.
The band has released two further albums and completed five tours of the United States (2018, 2019, 2023, 2024, 2025). Along the way, they’ve shared stages with artists including Buddy Guy, Kingfish Ingram, Charlie Musselwhite, Little River Band, and Trombone Shorty, and performed at major US festivals such as Mammoth Lakes Bluesapalooza, the Dallas Guitar Festival, Memphis in May, Summerfest, Levitt venues in Dayton and Sioux Falls, and on WGN-TV Chicago. In Australia, they’ve featured at leading festivals including WOMADelaide, Broadbeach, Wangaratta, Mitchell Creek, Mordi, Eltham, and Echuca.
Following their post-COVID return in 2023, Kings & Associates released the album NEIGHBOUR via AMG/Sony, again tracked with Jim Scott in LA. The single “Rhythms” has since surpassed 1.4 million Spotify streams. A follow-up album is already written, with recording set to begin in 2026; the first track, “Circles,” is being described by the band as one of their strongest recordings to date.
Kings and Associates will be playing two sets.
