An Exploration of the Use of the Self in Play Therapy
About
PD Event Description:Join us for a live 90min webinar exploring the powerful role of the therapist's self in the play therapy process. Through the lens of Synergetic Play Therapy®, participants will delve into what it truly means to "use the self" to deepen therapeutic connection and support regulation. This training will introduce the concept of "The Set Up/Offering" to help therapists recognize the unconscious invitations present in the playroom. We will also explore the importance of therapist authenticity as a foundation for attunement and co-regulation, and examine how to identify and work with our own internal "sensitivities" as they arise. These insights will support therapists in showing up more fully and congruently in the therapeutic relationship.
Learning Outcomes:
You will have the opportunity to:
* Learn about the Synergetic Play Therapy concept of "The Set Up/Offering" and how to use this information to become curious about what a child is trying to communicate
* Consider what regulation is and what it isn't and how this understanding supports attunement and co-regulation
* Explore authenticity and congruency as key elements for creating a neuroception of safety and what these mean in the context of play therapy
