Five musicians from four Australian cities, now based in Melbourne, come together to perform two piano quintets including double bass, showcasing the unique textural possibilities of a seldom-heard instrumental combination. Chai Jie Low (piano), Rollin Zhao (violin/viola), Josef Hanna (violin/viola), Caleb Wong (cello) and Rowan Swarbrick (double bass), present Schubert’s well-loved ‘Trout’ Quintet with variations on his art song Die Forelle, followed by Vaughan William’s richly passionate Piano Quintet in C minor.
