ABOUT CATHERINE BROADSTOCK
Catherine Guinevere Broadstock (née Lynagh) is an ‘exciting and passionate’ pianist who has been in demand for some twenty years for her ability to perform and accompany with accuracy and insightful musicianship.
Catherine is a versatile performer who regularly performs for Opera Queensland, The Queensland Choir, Queensland Symphony Orchestra Chamber Concerts, the Redland Sinfonia, 4MBS Festival of Classics and for jazz and crossover artists such as Tyrone Noonan and Suellen Cusack. She holds degrees from the University of Southern Queensland and the Queensland Conservatorium (Griffith University) and has studied piano with Kevin Power, Wendy Lorenz, Natasha Vlassenko, Oleg Stepanov and masterclasses with Cedric Tiberghien and Roger Woodward.
ABOUT SUSAN ELLIS
Susan Ellis is an Australian soprano and creative artist whose work moves fluidly between contemporary performance, poetry, and new music. Known for her expressive storytelling and versatility, she has premiered roles such as Medea in Medea a Melodrama, Mary Gilmore in Vincent Plush’s The Plaint of Mary Gilmore, and Elizabeth Woodville in A.D.K. Voltz’s The True Story of the Princes in the Tower.
A graduate of the ANU, where she completed her MMus with distinction, Susan has been recognised with the CAPO Fellowship, the Singapore Airlines Travelling Scholarship, and the Kornfeld Scholarship. She performs regularly with Opera Queensland in both roles and concert work and has collaborated with orchestras across Australia. Her work has included artistic development and collaborations in Italy, England, China and Germany, experiences that continue to inform her contemporary Australian practice.
As vocalist with the Griffyn Ensemble, she has appeared in broadcasts for ABC Classic and toured nationally with Musica Viva, contributing to the ensemble’s reputation for adventurous, theatrical collaborations and bold Australian storytelling. Her recent solo projects include the premiere of five songs by Graeme Denniss with Redlands Sinfonia, recorded on This Red Land.
In Melbourne, Susan brings her love of text, voice, and contemporary Australian storytelling to the stage, weaving poetry and music into an intimate, resonant performance experience.
