ACPA Conference 2026
The Australasian Catholic Press Association invites all Catholic communications and media professionals across Australia and the Pacific to the 2026 Annual Conference in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Join us at this year’s conference where we will explore Pope Leo XIV’s call to protect humans against the worst aspects of Artificial Intelligence (AI). It is our duty as Catholic journalists and communicators to share stories that ‘lovingly safeguard the grandeur of humanity bestowed upon us and revealed in its fullness in Christ, the splendor of which no machine can ever replace’ (Magnifica humanitas, §15).
The conference and the ACPA awards dinner will be held at the Crowne Plaza in Christchurch. Conference guest speakers include Cardinal John Dew, who was at the conclave to elect Pope Leo XIV; James Bergin, a Catholic expert on AI technology and the Executive GM of Technology Research and Advocacy at Xero; Chelsea Houghton, Strategic Communications and Fundraising Specialist with a technology focus, and; Sinead Boucher, owner and publisher of Stuff Group, New Zealand.
PROGRAM:
Tuesday 25 August (PM): ACPA Members AGM
Wednesday 26 August: Conference Day 1; Group Tour
Thursday 27 August: Conference Day 2; Conference Mass; ACPA Awards Dinner
