Van Walker is a prolific and celebrated Tasmanian songwriter whose music spans folk, blues, country and rock. A ‘cult figure’ in his adopted home of Victoria, Van has built a vast catalogue of poetic, lyric-driven songs exploring a range of personal and social themes.
His 2020 solo album, Ghosting (Green South Records), was runner-up for Best Album in the Rhythms Magazine Readers’ Poll and he followed the award-winning Ghosting with his 2025 album, Healing Descent, which was acclaimed by critics and peers alike.
Van brings these new songs, along with material from Ghosting and earlier albums, to Music On The Hill, accompanied by dobro extraordinaire Dan Musil.
The Grand Magoozi is the musical pen name of Melbourne/Naarm based songwriter Susie Scurry, whose debut album arrived a decade ago seemingly out of nowhere. Those lucky enough to discover it were struck by its timelessness, with the record travelling hand to hand through word of mouth and finding its way into the LP collections of devoted listeners. Drawing from the traditions of American and English folk music while carrying something quintessentially Australian, it introduced a songwriter unlike quite anyone else. The Grand Magoozi will release a second album, Tropic of Capricorn which will be released September 2026 via Flippin Yeah Records.
