John Williams is one of those rare blues artists who has truly lived the music.
Winner of the 2015 VIC/TAS Blues Award for Best Blues Debut Album and inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame in 2020, John has spent decades carving out a reputation as a powerhouse performer, gifted songwriter and master guitarist. Whether it's his jaw-dropping slide work, fiery electric blues or deep-rooted originals, John delivers every note with passion, authority and unmistakable style.
His remarkable career has seen him share stages and tour with some of the biggest names in music, including The Yardbirds, Tom Jones, The Animals, Eric Burdon, Roy Orbison, The Easybeats and Jimmy Page. In fact, Page was so impressed with John's playing that he taught him some of his signature guitar techniques and even called on him to fill in on tour when illness prevented him from performing.
Drawing on a lifetime immersed in the blues, John combines blistering guitar work, powerful vocals and a wealth of stories from the road into performances that captivate audiences on both sides of the Tasman. From reimagined blues classics to his own acclaimed original material, every show is a masterclass in authentic electric blues.
