What Every Coach Should Know About Young Athletes

About

As a coach, you've probably asked yourself questions like:

  • How do I build confidence in a player who's struggling?
  • What do I do when a young athlete loses motivation?
  • How can I support kids through disappointment and setbacks?
  • Why are some athletes walking away from sport?
  • What's the best way to manage pressure and expectations?

These are challenges that almost every coach faces, but few have the opportunity to discuss with a sports psychologist.

Join registered sports psychologist Joel Curtis from Endeavour Wellness for a practical and engaging online workshop designed for coaches, volunteers and club leaders involved in community sport.

Drawing on the themes explored throughout Valley Sport's podcast series, Joel will share insights into the mindset of young athletes and the factors that influence confidence, motivation, resilience, enjoyment and long-term participation in sport.

This isn't a coaching accreditation course or a lecture on tactics and game plans. It's an opportunity to hear directly from an expert, better understand the young people in your club, and ask questions about the challenges you're seeing in today's sporting environment.

Whether you're coaching an Under 10s team, a representative squad or anything in between, you'll leave with a greater understanding of how to help young athletes thrive both on and off the field.

This workshop will be delivered online. A meeting link and access details will be emailed to all registered participants prior to the session.

Presented by Valley Sport and South West Sport and facilitated by Joel Curtis, Registered Sports Psychologist and Principal Psychologist at Endeavour Wellness.
