PARENT SEMINAR
ONLINE: Ask a Psychologist Mental Health in Gifted Students
Thursday, 23rd July, 2026, 7:30pm - 9:00pm
Doctor Alison Brown and Victoria Poulos
Cost for Non Members is $20
Parenting a gifted child can be both rewarding and challenging, particularly when it comes to supporting their emotional wellbeing and healthy development. In this session, alongside Dr Alison Brown, a psychologist specialising in gifted education, we will explore the unique social, emotional, and mental health needs of gifted children.
Gifted children often think deeply, feel intensely, and notice complexities in the world well beyond what might be expected for their age. While these strengths can be remarkable, they can also contribute to challenges such as perfectionism, anxiety, emotional intensity, friendship difficulties, frustration, and exhaustion. Many parents find themselves supporting a child whose intellectual abilities are far ahead of their emotional development.
This session will help parents better understand the characteristics of giftedness and how they influence a child's wellbeing. You will learn practical strategies to support emotional resilience, encourage healthy routines, nurture positive relationships, and navigate common challenges that may arise at home and at school.
Join us to gain valuable insights and practical tools that will help your gifted child flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.
Zoom link will be sent on registration
