Tactical Space Lab’s Pop Up Open Studio
About
Don't miss Tactical Space Lab's Pop-up Open Studio at 4A LAB on Friday 3 July, 5–8pm. Join Dr Josh Harle and EJ Son as they share the outcomes of a three-week creative incubator. Explore works in progress, experimental prototypes, VR experiences and a library of desktop games.
Centred around the idea of the 'egocentric view', or the first person perspective shared across VR, video games and AI systems, the project explores how immersive technologies shape perception, interaction and the ways we experience the world.
Dr Josh Harle is a media artist, researcher, and educator, identifying as neurodivergent and non-visibly disabled. His practice explores the importance and expressive potential of repurposing digital technologies through hacking, experimentation, and play, informed by degrees in Computer Science & Cybernetics, Philosophy, and Fine Art, and a doctorate in the politics of digital representation of space.
EJ Son is a multidisciplinary artist working across sculpture, installation, ceramics and writing. Their practice uses provocation and humour to interrogate power structures in gender, sexuality and race. Through paradox and tension, Son’s work disrupts ingrained binaries, creating space for new subjectivities and emotional registers.
Tactical Space Lab is a research lab focussed on demystifying technology, and investigating its potential beyond consumption and capture logic. Through collaborative artist studios, we explore diverse forms of ‘sense-making’, technology as cultural practice, and the transformative potential of repurposing it through hacking, experimentation, and play.
Leave your couch behind next Friday night. We'll see you at 4A LAB!
