Managing the Dance Athlete: From Pre-Pointe Assessment to Injury Rehabilitation

Date: Saturday 10th October 2026
Time: 9:30 am – 4:00 pm
Delivery: Attend in person or join live online
Location: Highett, Melbourne Venue TBC
Cost: $395

Join experienced dance podiatrists Kirstine Mann and Sophie Young for an engaging full-day workshop exploring the assessment and management of dancers from a podiatrist's perspective. Designed for podiatrists, physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, sports physicians, osteopaths, chiropractors and other healthcare professionals with an interest in dance medicine, this interactive course combines evidence-based education with practical clinical application.

The morning session explores the diagnosis and management of common dance injuries affecting the foot and ankle. Topics include overuse injuries, bone stress injuries, tendinopathies, ankle impingement, forefoot pathology, rehabilitation strategies, load management, return-to-dance planning, and practical ways to keep dancers engaged, motivated and performing safely throughout their recovery.

The afternoon session focuses on pre-pointe assessments, including the physical requirements for pointe work, screening protocols, movement assessment, clinical decision-making and hands-on opportunities to observe and perform a pre-pointe assessment.

This highly interactive workshop incorporates clinical case studies, audience discussion, practical demonstrations and evidence-based treatment approaches that can be immediately applied in clinical practice.

Participants attending in person will enjoy morning tea, lunch and refreshments throughout the day. A live online attendance option is also available for those unable to travel.

All participants will receive a Certificate of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) upon completion.

Whether you are new to dance medicine or looking to expand your clinical skills, this workshop will provide practical knowledge and confidence in managing dancers across all levels, from recreational students to elite performers.
