Sunshine after Storms
About
A program of contrasts. Storm clouds are brewing and crashing thunder sounds at the outset of Schubert’s Lebensstürme (Storms of Life). These intersperse with moments of calm and even content, but inevitably recur. Such is Schubert’s internal life. Contrasted with this is Mendelssohn’s sun-drenched Italian holiday, full of warmth and delightful tunes. Schumann’s song cycle Frauenliebe und Leben (Woman’s Life and Love) speaks of a woman’s love for her husband, her child, and its loss. This concert also premieres a new work by Diana Blom – Satellite.Date
