Sunday Sessions Jazz: Adrian Cunningham & Peter Locke Trio (SOLD OUT)
For Sunday Sessions Jazz at The Hastings - Bowral Golf Club on Sunday 16 August we are honoured to present Adrian Cunningham & the Peter Locke Trio.
Spanish-based and Australian-born Adrian Cunningham (and frequent SH! Jazz featured artist) is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist, composer, vocalist, and world traveller. With fluent command of the saxophones, clarinet, and flute, he is one of the finest multi-instrumentalists in jazz today.
In a career spanning two decades and counting, the "Down Under Sax Star" (Wall St Journal) has performed alongside luminaries such as Jon Batiste, Chris Potter and Wynton Marsalis, and has appeared as soloist in some of the world's great stages including New York's Carnegie Hall, Blue Note (New York and Tokyo), Stravinsky Auditorium (Montreux Jazz Festival) and the Sydney Opera House.
Adrian is the recipient of the Hot House Saxophone Award (NYC), and his band Professor Cunningham and His Old School is the winner of international band competition World Jam in Madrid and Best Band award at Harlem Festival in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Adrian is accompanied by the Peter Locke Trio, featuring the great man himself on piano with David Pudney on double bass and Cameron Reid on drums.
Peter Locke is one of Australia's most highly respected jazz pianists, musical directors and accompanists. Based out of Sydney and the NSW South Coast, Peter is in high demand in many musical settings due to the impressive depth of the jazz tradition in his playing. Peter studied with and is a protege of piano master Chuck Yates.
David Pudney is one of the most sought-after double bass players in the Australian jazz scene. His versatility and extraordinary knowledge of jazz tunes and traditions have meant he has played with a wide variety of Australian jazz artists, regularly touring and recording with Adrian Cunningham, as well as some of Australia's best best known and respected jazz musicians including Don Burrows and James Morrison.
Cameron Reid is a highly regarded drummer who has developed a unique combination of musicality, energy and subtlety. Combining years of recording and live performances he traverses many genres, including of course jazz, and has accompanied some of Australia's leading jazz bands.
This promises to be one of our most enjoyable and lively gigs of the year!
The $40 ticket price ($35 for SH! Jazz members, $20 for student/child) plus booking fee is for event entry only, with reserved table seating. Space is limited, so book early to ensure your spot!
Food and drink is available to order at The Hastings Bowral. If you have any special song requests or seating preferences, please let us know when you book. Lunch is available from 12 noon with the band playing from 2-4:30pm.
