Celebrate the return of Adelaide German Week with a special Pre-Launch Black Tie Gala at Her Majesty’s Theatre, combining an exclusive reception with State Opera South Australia’s spectacular production of Hänsel und Gretel, performed in German with English subtitles.
Hosted by Matthew P. Williams, Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany, this special evening brings together the German community and friends of Adelaide German Week for a celebration of German language, culture, music and community in one of Adelaide’s most beautiful theatres.
PRE-SHOW GALA RECEPTION | 6.00 PM – 7.00 PM
Begin the evening with an exclusive reception in the Grand Circle Bar on Level 2 of Her Majesty’s Theatre.
Your Gala experience includes:
• Canapés and one welcome drink, with a choice of sparkling, red or white wine, beer or soft drink
• A special pre-show talk with members of the cast and creative team
• Exclusive use of the Grand Circle Bar for Gala guests
Additional drinks will be available for purchase.
The Gala reception is limited to 60 guests.
Dress code: Black Tie
To maintain the formal character of the evening, guests are kindly requested not to wear casual or smart-casual attire, including jeans or workwear.

Whether you’re returning to the timeless magic of the Brothers Grimm or experiencing it for the first time, State Opera’s Hänsel und Gretel is a thrilling theatrical event combining world-class voices and breathtaking design.
Featuring a globally acclaimed cast, some of South Australia’s leading artists together with a superb Children’s Chorus and performed by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Humperdinck’s sumptuous score unfolds with cinematic beauty, blending soaring voices with dramatic orchestral music.
Performed in German with English surtitles.
The production is suitable for adults and mature young audiences aged 10 years and over.
