Girl Talk: Teen Edition
About
Real conversations about growing up, health, confidence and understanding your ever changing body.Growing up can be exciting, confusing and, at times, overwhelming. From periods and hormones, to food, skin, confidence and body changes, there are so many questions - and not always someone you feel comfortable asking.
Girl Talk: Teen edition is a supportive, engaging workshop designed for girls aged 12-16 years, bringing together local female health professionals to provide honest, practical and evidence-based information in a safe, judgement-free environment.
Throughout the session you'll hear from five incredible local women who are passionate about helping girls better understand and appreciate their changing bodies.
Mel Angus - Understanding your Cycle
Learn what's happening during your menstrual cycle, why your hormones affect how you feel, and how understanding your cycle can help you work with your body rather than against it.
Natalie Chaplin - Loving your Body, Even the Flaws
Body image, confidence and self-worth are challenges many girls face. Natalie will share practical strategies to help build confidence, navigate comparison, develop positive self-talk and appreciate your body for everything it can do.
Teagan Blines - Understanding your Skin
Why do breakouts suddenly appear on your face, back, chest or even your bum? Learn what's happening during puberty, common skincare myths and how to look after your skin without feeling overwhelmed.
Jacki Wright - Your Core, Pelvic Floor & Posture
What is your pelvic floor, why is it so important and how does it support your body? Jacki will guide you through simple movement, posture and Pilates principles to help you feel strong, confident and connected to your body.
Kathryn Lynam - Nourishing your Body (and your Soul)
Discover why food is so much more than calories. We'll explore proteins, carbohydrates and fats, why your growing body needs them, how nutrition fuels your energy, sport, mood and learning, and why building healthy habits now sets you up for a flourishing life.
Throughout the event you will be able to relax, create, doodle or journal whilst listening, and write anonymous questions to place in our questions box.
The workshop concludes with a panel discussion where your anonymous questions will be answered openly and honestly by our panel of speakers - because no question is silly, embarrassing or off-limits.
Our hope is that every girl leaves feeling informed, empowered and proud of the amazing body she has to grow into.
