Woodblock printing is one of the oldest printing techniques used for artistic expression. It is a simple way to make unique and replicable prints.This workshop will teach you how to make your first woodblock print, from carving the wood board, to hand printing an edition of your work.
Join Emilie for a fun session exploring this technique and create your own unique woodblock print.
If you have an idea or an image you would like to work on, feel free to bring reference photos or a drawing.
What will we cover?
In this workshop you will:
- Be guided you through a step-by-step creative process.
- Walk away with your own custom (reusable) woodblock and a couple of woodblock prints.
Who will be teaching?
Emilie (she/her) is an artist and educator based between Melbourne and Marseille (Fr), working across media with a focus on community-based practice and education. She graduated from her PhD in Fine Arts at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2020 and has been an art resident at Testing Grounds (2020), Making Space (2021) and the Comic Art Workshop (2021).
Emilie has exhibited her works at FortyFive Downstairs gallery, the Abbotsford convent, No Vacancy Gallery, Arcade and George Patton Gallery.
Cost $25 - includes all materials and artwork to take home.
