A21C: Information - the hidden national asset

In “The Australian State in the 21st Century” Greg Smith identified the need to transform Australia’s poor information conditions “which undermine trust, distort decision-making and cripple liberal democracy”.

In the third presentation of the "Australia in the 21st Century" series, David Glynne Jones will outline the fundamentals of data and information, and describe a framework for the effective, transparent and accountable stewardship, management, utilisation and dissemination of national data and information that builds public trust and confidence, enables quality decision-making and strengthens liberal democracy.

David Glynne Jones is an independent advocate for the transformation of Australian public administration to meet the challenges of the 21st century. His vocational background is in the operations and management of information and communications technology, information governance and management, and organisational development.

There will be a Q&A session following the presentation, then light refreshments.
Sunday 30 August 2026 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM (UTC+10)
