Breath of Spring
Breath of Spring
By Peter Coke
Directed by Dale Murison
A charming comedy of manners, mischief, and mink.
Breath of Spring is a delightful mid-century comedy of manners with a mischievous twist. Dame Beatrice receives a stole from her maid, a woman with a checkered past. Beatrice is left suspecting that the mink’s been fleeced. A former army officer and other lodgers in her building endeavor to return the stole, but they realize they love the intrigue so much that they form a syndicate for stealing and returning furs. What follows is a web of secretive scheming, plot-hatching and cat-burgling.
---
OLD FURS. A NEW PURPOSE.
The vintage furs used in Breath of Spring have been donated to Growl Theatre by members of our community.
We don't support the killing of animals for fashion, but rather than allowing these existing garments to be discarded, we're giving them another life on stage - and using their story to help wildlife today.
Koalas were once hunted by the millions for the international fur trade. In Queensland alone, around 600,000 koala pelts were collected during just one month in 1927.
That's why Growl Theatre is donating 15% of ticket proceeds from Breath of Spring to the Queensland Koala Society supporting their work caring for and protecting Queensland's koalas.
When purchasing your tickets through TryBooking, you'll also have the opportunity to make an additional donation. There is absolutely no obligation - but if you'd like to join us in turning a small piece of the fur trade's history into something positive, we'd be enormously grateful.
