Monthly Workshop: Natalie Allen & Creative Process
About
This August, Natalie Allen will lead a weekend workshop sharing her creative process and choreographic practice. Natalie is currently curious about touch and the nuance of this in relation to bodies in contact with each other, and how it builds dynamic relationships. As she develops ideas for a new work, Natalie invites you into the studio to investigate these themes alongside her:Unveil is an exploration of touch as a language of survival, sensuality, and embodied knowing. It considers how the body holds and transmits wisdom through sensation, and how touch becomes a site of both vulnerability and connection.
The focus will be on the ways we meet, such as through the gaze, through proximity, through contact, and through shared moments of feeling. I am interested in the nuanced exchanges that occur between bodies, the personal and collective boundaries of these bodies, and within these bodily encounters what stories emerge.
Unveil invites a restoration of touch: the act of feeling as a form of listening, contact as a form of communication, and presence as a shared responsibility. Through this, the work seeks to open space for reconnection—with ourselves, with others, and with the textures of the world we inhabit.
As this workshop centres on developing trust and connection within the group, participants are required to attend from the first day. You may register for Saturday only or both Saturday and Sunday, but Sunday-only attendance is not available.
