The second Mainhouse show this year and produced by Vena Cava Productions, The '18th Annual Miss Virtue Beauty Contest' is a brutal collage of scenes from a pageant unlike any you have seen before. Devised by the cast and creative team, this work uses the framework of a beauty pageant to analyse the way that beauty is sold to us so it can be used against us. It traces these vile and insidious patterns deep into the catacombs of the exploitation industry and juxtaposes them against the smiling faces of beauty queens, boardroom executives, and television commercials.This production contains depictions of high level violence, depictions of visceral body detail, course language and references to/descriptions of violence and gore and heavy/adult themes.
