In a profession defined by coverage and outcomes, the Navigating Creativity: From Slow Looking to Bold Thinking conference invites a different stance, one that begins with curiosity and the courage to think differently.
Nathalie Ryan, Senior Educator at the US National Gallery of Art, has spent over two decades designing experiences that help people pause and notice. Her keynote - Awe: Slow Looking, Wonderstanding, and Cultivating Curiosity - invites educators to reconsider the role of attention in learning and the ways in which the arts can open up engagement.
Andrew Pennay - artist, researcher, and Director of Creative Arts at Brisbane Girls Grammar School - will challenge participants to navigate the tension between what he calls “schoolish” and “outlandish” creativities. His work pushes at the boundaries of convention, asking how schools might better nurture imaginative thinking.
Educators like you will facilitate workshops exploring how ideas from Project Zero can be translated into classroom practice - how slow looking can become routine, how curiosity can be cultivated, and how bold thinking can be sustained in the life of schools.
The Project Zero Australia Network exists to share these ideas widely, offering free professional learning opportunities grounded in research and practice.
