About
Cate Taylor is an award-winning, indie-folk songwriter from Naarm (Melbourne), performing delicately crafted material with voice, guitar and mandolin. Two albums to her name and a reputation for being a highly artful songwriter, winning the Roddy Read songwriting competition in 2022 and having other compositions shortlisted for awards in 2023 and 2024.
Amla is a captivating multi-instrumentalist - flautist, violinist & vocalist. Informed by her classical background in flute and years of performance experience.
Together they form the contemporary folk duo, Wattle Lane, building on their strengths to forge new ones with a flare and love of story-telling and audience participation. They bring audiences a collection of moving songs that reflect social, personal and environmental themes delivered through stories, ballads and upbeat tunes in a contemporary folk genre but veering on occasion into a traditional folk sound.
They offer an original sound with a mix of interesting songs ranging from quiet to uplifting with strong, current and relatable themes.
Cate Taylor's new record tells stories of an observant poet with an honest heart. Layered with luscious instrumentation. - Kerryn Fields
