Join us in the Elizabeth College theatre for a night of exceptional music. Dan Costa is a jazz/ world music pianist and composer known for his original work and for his collaborations with artists such as Randy Brecker, Ron Carter, John Patitucci, Mike Stern, Bob Mintzer, Hermeto Pascoal, Dave Liebman and many others.

He studied classical piano as well as jazz piano at the Académie de Musique Rainier III in Monaco for six years prior to taking a diploma at Sir Paul McCartney's Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. He then focused on jazz at the Escola Superior de Música, Artes e Espetáculo in Portugal, graduating with distinction and a Rotary Club Award for outstanding achievement. During his course, he was also awarded a grant to study Brazilian music at UNICAMP in São Paulo, Brazil as an international exchange student, and pursued further studies at Berklee College of Music.

A recipient of silver and gold medals at the Global Music Awards, Costa has performed on six continents and his music has been featured by FOUR PAWS in support of animal welfare. His music has been included in instructional material and he has done masterclasses at universities such as the Royal Academy of Music, the Royal Northern College of Music, Monash, Victoria University, Mahidol, University of Auckland, Australian National University, Canadian International School, University of New South Wales and Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts.

During this special event, Costa will be joined accompanied by Shasha Gavlek and Damien Oliver-Black for his trio on the Tasmania leg of his international tour. Exclusively for Elizabeth College, Dan will also be featuring current EC students to perform alongside him - a very exciting and special experience!
