Your smartphone already has built-in tools that can make everyday life a little easier, and theyโre simpler to set up than you might think. This workshop will show you how to unlock their potential and use them to better support your brain day to day.
In this hands-on workshop from MuddleMend, youโll learn how smartphone shortcuts and automations can be used as practical supports for ADHD, helping with things like remembering, getting started, transitions, routines and reducing the mental load of everyday life.
You'll explore how shortcuts and automations work, what your phone can actually be set up to do, and how actions and triggers can be combined to create useful supports for everyday situations.
Then, together, we'll build and test a grocery shopping automation that brings up your shopping list when you arrive at the shops. We'll then link this automation to an NFC tag, showing how a physical trigger in your environment can be used to start useful actions on your phone.
Finally, we'll explore how these same building blocks can be combined in different ways to support other everyday situations.
By the end of this workshop, you'll understand:
- Why technology can be configured to support common ADHD difficulties
- How shortcuts and automations work, including actions and triggers
- How to build and test a useful automation step-by-step
- How NFC tags can be used as physical triggers
- How different actions and triggers can be combined to create other practical supports
What you'll leave with:
- A shortcut and automation you've built and tested
- Experience setting up and using an NFC tag
- A practical understanding of actions, triggers and automations
- A step-by-step process to refer to later
- Ideas for adapting the same approach to other everyday situations
Who is this for?
Adults with ADHD, people who identify with ADHD-related challenges, or anyone interested in using everyday technology as cognitive support.
No previous experience with shortcuts, automations or NFC tags is required.
What to bring
Please bring your personal smartphone to take part in the hands-on build.
Both iPhone and Android are supported.
Please note: Places are limited to keep the workshop small, practical and hands-on.
